Gabriela Staebler is one of the best, internationally recognized professional nature photographers. She was born in southern Germany and lives in Upper Bavaria on Lake Ammersee.

Since 1987, she and her partner have spent several weeks each year traveling through the African wilderness with a tent and off-road vehicle.


The NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC photographer and author is a self-taught wildlife photographer and works freelance for magazines, book publishers, and calendar publishers both in Germany and abroad. She has also presented her work live in multimedia shows, given numerous readings for school classes, led photography workshops in Kenya and Tanzania, and is a sought-after judge for international nature photography competitions.

She has received multiple awards at "BC Wildlife Photographer of the Year,"" Nature's Best International Photography USA", "European Nature Photographer of the Year" and numerous other internationally renowned photography competitions.
In addition to large-format photo books on African wildlife, Gabriela Staebler published a seven-part non-fiction series for young people about African animal babies, which has been translated into several languages.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC presented her photographs from Africa's most beautiful photo locations in an exceptional photo book and a 365-page perpetual calendar.
